Implement a Money Bank ingame
Give us in the big Main Towns...Lion's Arc, Kaineng and Kamadan Money Banks...
So some NPC's in Buildings or so... some Xunlai guys ... which will store for us our money on a 2nd Treasure Chest Storage, which is just only for money that we put into the Bank.
When we put into our Bank Account money...then the players wil receive every month "interest"....
The % of interest the money banks will give us players will be randomous and will change more or less slightly every 2 months
With a range of say 1-5% and changes of -0,5%- +0,5%
Say Player X puts now 100000 Gold into the Money bank...after 1 Month it are then with 5% interest 105000 Gold after month 2 with 4,5% interest it are 109075 Gold
uhm, if this is imo really too slow for the game to be an interesting feature, but this should show only the example.. when every weekend will raise the money and every 2 weeks will the % of interest slightly change, its sure more interesting and makes for the game more sense
I thought of this.. because it would be a way for perma poor gamers to earn money over time..even without perma farming and grinding..what would be optimal for casual gamers
what do you think of having a money bank system ?

No, just play the game and don't buy things you don't need. Then you won't be poor anymore.

Yeah, the poor gamers would get a few hundred extra G per month. And the players who are already millionaires several times over can exploit their mule accounts to make thousands more a month on what seems to be infinite gold storage.
Awesome.

OK, let's consider all of the potential unintended consequences here:
1) Value of gold goes up dramatically (since you can earn significant quantities of gold from gold). Prices of rare materials and dyes crash as people stampede OUT of those items into gold. Which would REALLY hurt if you had a lot of ectos.
2) Gold hoarding: A significant share (almost all?) of the game's gold supply gets tied up in the bank. Trades start getting denominated in things other than gold; people essentially sell their gold for items of 'greater' value.
3) Inflation: this essentially increases the drop rate on gold in-game by a percentage; it's predictable, transparent and fixed, so people adjust their expectations. Net effect: stuff starts costing more over time.
I don't think you'd want to live in this hypothetical game scenario.

GW's economy is too broken for this to work how you intend it. Nice creativity though.

What difference would .5% make if you're already a "perma poor" player?

/no way in a million years
So you are basically asking for free money??
I saw your riverside thread moaning about tomes being too expensive as well, stop trying to bring down prices and get free money by doing nothing.
This idea reminds me of the god-awful 'blood-bank' idea that was brought up a while ago, and got promptly shot down in flames.
Nothing constructive will come of this thread /close please.

I actually thought this might be good idea for say very casual gamer that could only play about 5 to 6 hrs a week,There are lots of gold sinks just to get gold out of your hands and into Anets. It would be nice to see to all the gold sinks gone from the game completely this includes the guild invite fee as well as doing away with keys and make each chest free to open like May05.

What if you restricted the money that you can store to... let's say... 2k or something like that? And at the end of the month all the money goes automatically into your Xunlai Storage account.

No, that's a really bad idea. There's no point to it, just sounds like you're in need of easy money, so you make a suggestion like this.
It's not too hard to make money, and this "interest" wouldn't be a useful addition to the game, IMO.

You're just introducing an artificial inflation rate. A great idea, if you were a Secretary of Finance for a third world pariah state.
Banks can offer you an interest on your savings because they are using that money to lend to people for a higher interest. (uh, to put it simply...)
So unless your bank idea allows loans with interest and has a means of dealing with payment defaulting, it cannot have a savings interest rate.
This does not work because all the gold sinks in the game does not help a person generate gold faster in order to pay back the loan.

I was going to suggest a system like this, where every month a player would earn a certain amount of intrest on their xunali accounts. Then I realized that the only reason intrest accounts exist in the real world is so that banks can compete with socks underneath peoples beds.
While I think it would be an interesting idea, and helpful to casual gamers to a certain extent, I think it might cuase a lot of problems to the already fragile economy of the game.
/Not signed, though I like the idea.
